MOVE ON TO HIGHER LEVELS 2
|
The desire to have our needs met influences our behavior. All human beings have needs and we should be able to identify what our needs are because our needs influence the way we think and feel.
Abraham Maslow put man’s basic needs on five levels - number one need (the lowest level) is physiological needs or biological needs. Physical needs are the needs that we have for our physical survival which include the need for food, water, oxygen and the need for a relatively constant body temperature. Survival needs. They are the strongest needs in a human being. They have to do directly with our remaining alive.
Someone once said that the strongest instinct in man is the instinct for survival. Now, when a person is deprived of this, the natural consequence is that the person cannot remain alive. Have you thought about it, dear reader, that the greatest motivating factor for you probably is the need to get food to eat and to stay alive? That’s a level one need. Level two needs are safety needs - the need for security, shelter, for a roof over your head.
Level three needs – the need for love, affection and a sense of belonging.
Level four needs - the need for self-esteem; the need to feel accepted, the need for self-respect and for self-confidence.
Level five needs - the need for self-actualization; the point in your life when you get to realize you have the potential to do a whole lot more than you are doing. This is a bit difficult to define; it’s a feeling of restlessness that washes over a successful person, because of a strong desire to add value to lives.
Until your level one need is met, you don’t go on to level two. So, the pertinent question here, dear reader, is ‘Are your needs being met?’
Put your trust in God because this will be the best year you ever lived. The power of lack is broken over you and your family today.
God bless you
